New Fushitsusha CD

Somewhat out of the blue, there’s a new Fushitsusha CD released (in Japan) on April 27. I haven’t seen it offered yet in the usual outlets for such things (Volcanic Tongue, Forced Exposure, etc.) but if you can read Japanese you can pick it up here.

The title of the CD is ‘Hikari to nazukeyo’ and the line-up this time includes Fushitsusha mainstay Takahashi Ikuro on drums and Nasuno Mitsuru on bass. A return to the power trio format of the early years of Fushitsusha. Haino has been on a roll lately: the two LPs with Jim O’Rourke and Oren Ambarchi are some of his best recordings in years & the two Seijaku CDs on Doubt were uniformly excellent.

Probably the best place to pick up a copy would be the Improvised Music from Japan CD Shop. Likely the next time they update the site, it’ll be there.

05-06-2012: Quick Update, first retailer outside Japan spotted. Not surprisingly it’s Volcanic Tongue, who made it their Tip of the Tongue for the week. The write up is uh, positive, to say the least, and concludes with a bit about the whole history of rock and roll having led up to this CD. Um, OK.

05-10-2012: It is available from Improvised Music from Japan CD Shop now. Pice is 2800 yen, and shipping to the U.S. is another 300 yen. SOLD!

A bit of a change of pace from the usual Fushitsusha color scheme of black on black…
